Mary Ellen Priselac, LPC

Hello, my name is Mary Ellen Priselac and I have been a practicing licensed professional counselor for the past 15 years. My clinical experience includes psychiatric rehabilitation counseling, school-based therapy, mobile mental health and mobile therapy, and individual outpatient counseling. I also have years of experience within the social work field including employment within a sheltered workshop, residential facilities, case management and base service unit case management.

My approach is strong in talk therapy, engaging the individual to share what brought them to counseling and what they feel is most needed to address. Strategies allow for processing thoughts and feelings, acknowledgement of strengths and challenges, readiness for change. When prepared, individuals will develop the coping strategy or restructured thinking they feel best allows for management of their situation and encouraging growth. I do not utilize one specific discipline, but assess the individual where they are and work with them keeping paramount their own comfort, level of security, and overall goal of counseling.

I enjoy working with teens and adults. I have attended trainings, to name a few, in women’s issues, the geriatric and aging population, teen issues including shyness as well as bullying, and interpersonal relationship issues.

I feel the purpose of counseling is to not need counseling. When issues occur or arise, and life becomes more difficult than satisfactory, it is our goal as counselors to assist the person as they identify all that has become disruptive, and address it with meaningful insight and management, in order to return to the life most appreciated.
